    Gents

Am I correct in saying that this is a Heavy Brigade Bavarian Cuirassier Belt Buckle due to the "IN TREUE FEST" being in a block style lettering rather than the more normal Bavarian roman lettering?

The leather tab is stamped "KLEINHEINZ 1916 MUNCHEN"

I think I've had this displayed wrongly for ages in a case with an infantry man's Military Pass, medals, certificates and butcher bayonet from Hamburg. Should his be a "GOTT MIT UNS" buckle?

    Thanks in advance chaps

There is no such thing as a Bavarian Heavy Brigade Curassier Belt Buckle. First of all, there were no Bavarian "Curassier". This is just a standard steel wartime Bavarian belt buckle. There were several different die patterns for these buckles. Cavalry troops normally did not wear box type buckles, but rather the open mounted troops pattern. This may have changed in regiments that became dismounted "Schützen", but that would be due to their eventual issue of infantry type gear.

That ad is laughable. What is shown there is a wartime Bavarian buckle, which was worn by about everybody, except the cavalry. The only cavalry, mounted troops enlisted buckle is an open faced, all brass, frame type buckle. I suppose that dismounted cavalry that were used as infantry might eventually get issued an infantry buckle, but this guys description is painfully wrong.
