Some time ago I got a small group of Photos with guys from the 31st Inf Regt... with it was this guy with white shoulder boards and a cross on the cockade... does not look like landwehr? Any ideas what he can be?

I do believe that cockade represent the Hanseatic regions, Bremen, Hamburg, Lubeck. The 31st was part of the 18th Div, part of the 9th Corps that came from Schleswig-Holstein.
