E Williams Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Today I received my first ever Bavarian Militar-Pass and Soldbuch. I noticed right off, the difference in many ways between a Bavarian and Prussian Passes and Soldbuchs. I have a new scanner arriving any day now and I will post pages at that time. From what I've been able to read (I think) is, Pfilipp Ohnesorg from Kaiserslautern, born in 1898 and was assigned to the 3.bayr.Chevauxl.Regiment 5th Eskadron in late 1916 but was part of the 2nd Battery Bayr.Fussartillery Battalion 28 at the end of the war. I believe he was awarded the EKII while still in the Chev. Both books are originals and complete. Lots of entries in both books that will need some translation. Cheers Ed
Marcin L Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Please show us the pictures! I would like to have at least one Chevauleger Militarpass. Maybe some day.
spolei Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Hello, Ohnesorg changes in January 1918 from the Chevaulegers to the artillery as a driver. He finnished the war with the bayerisches Fußartillerie-Bataillon 28. He was awarded with the EK2 in July 1918. I could find his dates at the ancestry-database. Kaiserslautern is a city in the Pfalz-region, which belongs in this time to bavaria. Thats the reason why he join the bavarian army. Show us some pages. Cheers Andreas Edited February 8, 2014 by spolei

E Williams Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Tammy arrived today with my brand new scanner, God bless her for coming a day early. She said she couldn't wait. So, she is resting and I have installed the CD and I'm ready to go. First I want to post what I received today also, acquired from my tip jar. Translation is greatly appreciated.ThanksEd
E Williams Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 That photo card is quite a mystery to me. Dated 1915, the 2nd Bay Land Div wasn't organized until 1917. They wear the uniform of the bay Chevaulegers. Were they in the Chevaulegers and then transferred to the Landwehr and used an old photo card to send home? Maybe this is in the text.
