Alpha Draconis
Hello Gentleman I came across a Mentana cross, and need opinion on this engravings on its backside! 3050 1deL Thanks in advance AD
claudio2574
Many of these crosses had the number of the soldier and his regiment engraved. In this case it should be the soldier 3050 from the 1st line regiment ("1ere regiment de ligne", hope the translation is correct). It's a pity that the cross lost its suspension. Alpha Draconis
Thanks Claudio Nice to know this information! And yes, it's a shame the cross is not complete! Best regards Joseph
Odulf
Interesting, here is mine (2647 - 1 de L). Obviously the French 1st Regt. of Foot had their Crosses engraved with the Service number and the number of the regiment.
