My small collection of patriotic/commemorative ceramics from the Boer war period.

Two plates from during the war, and also a jug, from the end of the war.

Jerry - some nice pieces. I think the one with the gun and the three services is particularly good.

Unfortunately, the ravages of time have affected most of the glazes and the overprinting. Mervyn

There is an old saying, One of an item is Nice, Two of an item is a Collection, Three of an item is an obsession.....

My suggestion is that you get a copy of a book called "Boer War Memorabilia, The Collectors Guide" by Pieter Oosthuizen.....

Shows up on ebay every so often.....

Thanks Mervyn and Mike.

The 3 services plate is quite interesting as it appears to have one of the naval guns converted for land use shown on it.

I just checked ebay and amazon for the book Mike. None on the former, but quite a few on the latter.
