Rogi
I'd say fake, other features are very poor as well and without exterior shot, I'd pass. Especially for the price these are going for in today's market, I'd rather not risk it Edited April 28, 2014 by Rogi

paja
As far as I know all of them were made out of precious metals, the main difference are the stones, on some pieces they are natural on other synthetic. Considering that this was one of the top orders and that only 114 of them were awarded (until 1986) I do not believe that there were tombak types. Like you both noticed some of the details are not as good as on other known examples which makes this particular order suspicious, without more images I would definitely pass it. utopis
As stated before only precious metals. An authentic last type wouldn't go for much more than 2500. But without further images nothing can be said on this one. Though there is one thing: in the last half year or so fake Yugoslav Great Star breast stars from China started to turn up (just as 1 1/2 years ago fake heroes of yugoslava started to turn up from China). Bad quality but with stones in the center. Some of them sold for as much as $2000 on ebay. Poor suckers.

I do not know where are those ebay Great Stars you mentioned coming from but under item location is written Germany. I was very surprised with some of the amounts, in couple of cases they were unreal. But to be fair seller wrote that they are "museum level replicas", one more reason to be astonished with the prices they achieved Some of those People's Heroes are unfortunately coming from ex-Yugoslavia countries as well. utopis
Yes, first they appeared from Germany but he sold several pieces and at one point it was written that the item location is China. I think it is very plausible that that's where they were produced. Also one or two times he didn't state that they were copies but on most auctions he did. The ones that sold so high were stated as fakes,
utopis
Ah sorry my mistake. He didn't put China directly as item location. It is possible to conceal the real location of the item by choosing a different country (default is your country of origin) But you can't change the place the account was opened at and if you look at his profile it says "member since Oct-18-12 in China". paja
So China it is, I never bothered to check the sellers locations... But I think that the most important thing here is that they were sold as replicas not as the real deal, at least I didn't notice something like that. I just checked, we can still see 8 auctions, and in each of them they are described as replicas. I think that only 2 auctions are no longer available and that the same description was used with those 2 as well.

There is a huge collecting community in China for Yugoslavian Orders and medals (I have 4 Chinese friends that collect Yugo like crazy down there )I don't doubt that they have at the very least a couple hundred guys that manufacture fakes out there , I'd bet on there being a whole street that makes fake orders and medals, like there is for watches/clothes etc
