Chris Boonzaier Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Hi Emil Baars (name) Gadebusch B. Grevesmuhlen (born/Living in) 15. 9. 87 (date of birth) Ers. Batl. J.R.162 (he started out in the ersatz battalion of the Infantry Regiment 162) Are there any other marks wwhere he was posted afterwards?
paul kennedy Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 The reverse has J.R 162 1KP No 773 (It's hard to read)
paul kennedy Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) Reverse: Actually J.R.162 1K. NO. 773 Edited May 2, 2014 by paul kennedy
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 ahh.. OK, he was posted to the 1st Copany of the IR162 after his time at the Ersatz Company. All the best Chris
paul kennedy Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 There are 2 Emil Baars on the volksbund.de site: One is listed as a reservist who was killed/missing 15.12.1915, the other was a kanonier who was killed/missing 9.5.1918. They do not mention units. I'm assuming that the kanonier isn't him, as he wasn't in the artillery. My question is about the reservist. This couldn't be him, right? The i.d. tag is the 1916 version, and his date is for December 1915. Does this mean he survived the war?
