Ian Shepherd Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Hi, I have a 14 Star WW1 Group to 7987 pvt E Jones Cheshire Regt. I have been told that he was i POW. Is there anyway I can check this./ Cheers Ian
Mervyn Mitton Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hi - Ian. Hopefully one of our specialist collectors will be able to help you.
Tony Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Ian, the MIC for Pte. Edward Jones says PoW under remarks however, it doesn't state any date. I think the POW records will be available online later in the year but I'm not 100% sure. He has a very common name that doesn't help searching. Tony
Ian Shepherd Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Hi Tony, thanks for your help. Much appreciated. cheers Ian
Tony Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Ian, I've just been searching for his service record but it doesn't appear to have survived the fire. I think it's the Red Cross who are releasing their POW records online and it's planned for something like August. Hopefully someone else can help you more than I can. Good luck searching. Tony
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Indeed... the red cross in Switzerland have a huge project "happening" !!
Tony Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 The medal roll might show something about him being a POW but if I were you I'd wait a few more months and then check with the Red Cross.
