IrishGunner Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Looks like a good program of events at the US WWI museum. Anyone know of other programs for 28 June to commemorate the Archduke's assassination?
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Seems a strange date to celebrate... maybe in Sarajevo ? :-)
IrishGunner Posted June 29, 2014 Author Posted June 29, 2014 Here is an article "detailing" the 100th Anniversary of the "spark". Seems a bit underwhelming to me...
IrishGunner Posted June 29, 2014 Author Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Seems a strange date to celebrate... maybe in Sarajevo ? :-) Celebrate...indeed strange. Commemorate...indeed necessary. The phrase, "Those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat their mistakes." comes to mind. I'm surprised the date has not generated more discussion on GMIC. Chris Liontas Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 The BBC had a report that they are doing a reenactment of the Arch Duke's assassination, but no in Sarajevo for political reasons. I couldn't get a good grasp if it was a political group or historical group doing the reenactment.
