Regimental brooched (sweetheart brooch) medallion?

Hello all,

Does this small brooched medallion looks like any pre Boer war regimental (glengarry) badge to you? Text on the front; "WON BY WM SUTHERLAND". On the reverse pin system unfortunately covers some of the text; "D.RxxxxPETITION COLSxxxxx7" Obviously some kind of competition. Hallmark is Birmingham 1897.

Any ideas what it is?

Timo - I'm afraid that you only have a competition prize. Certainly Scottish in origin - but not a well made piece,

you can see where it has been cut out. The belt and the Scottish Lion are I think, just generic and not Regimental.
