Noor Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Hello all, Does this small brooched medallion looks like any pre Boer war regimental (glengarry) badge to you? Text on the front; "WON BY WM SUTHERLAND". On the reverse pin system unfortunately covers some of the text; "D.RxxxxPETITION COLSxxxxx7" Obviously some kind of competition. Hallmark is Birmingham 1897. Any ideas what it is? Regards, Timo aka Noor
Mervyn Mitton Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Timo - I'm afraid that you only have a competition prize. Certainly Scottish in origin - but not a well made piece, you can see where it has been cut out. The belt and the Scottish Lion are I think, just generic and not Regimental. However - as always on the Forum, someone may have other identification. Best wishes Mervyn
Noor Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Thank you! Yes, I had my doubts because lion looks like a pokey . Thanks again, Timo
paul wood Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I thought Pokey was another term for Jail, explain yourself Timo.Paul
Noor Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Sorry, I was using my phone - no change to edit Pokey to Pony (damn predictive text!!!)
