Milpol Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) I realise that this is a Belgian Kepi from the era of the late King Baudouin, but what service? A hand written label shows, ''Gendarm (alter art) adjutant''. I think the words in brackets mean 'old style'. The only kepis I can find for the Gendarmes show the cockade in the national colours, a red band around the centre and a silver band configuration around the kepi below that. Stuka f Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 It is indeed the highest NCO Gendarme kepis, for parade purpose. The B stands for King Baudouin. A rather rare object these days. |<ris
Milpol Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) Than you for your prompt reply. I had thought it may have been army but I am pleased that I asked the question on the right forum. Have you any idea of the age? John Edited October 21, 2014 by Milpol
Stuka f Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Hey John, new uniforms were in use in 1970, but some regions kept the old hats a bit longer. Army abolished those hats during WWI. cheers |<ris
