Ralph A Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 This is a lovely flag. Time for someone else to enjoy it. It's large: 9'2" by 6'4". I don't know the age, but I have a US flag of about the same size and construction that belonged to my Grandfather, and it flew over Camp Greene in Charlotte NC in the early 1900's. This leads me to believe this flag is as old, if not older. Seems to be a thin, somewhat coarse wool, maybe. Value? Thank you...
Ralph A Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Anyone care to take a stab at it? I was offered $75 for it....
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Its hard to say... but may be about right. Flags are hard to display, unless you have a "cool swastika"... they drag a bit on price... I would go for it myself... but I have one even bigger... stored somewhere... god knows where.... ;-)
Ralph A Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks bro. Exactly what I was looking for.
Tony Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I bought a much, much smaller one (3 parts sewn cotton) on a flag pole a year ago in Holland, I don't know how much size counts but it's roughly 1.5m x 1m and cost something like 25 or 30 euros. Tony
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 For display reasons smaller is better, and seem to bring better prices. I have no idea what mine was used for, but I could cover a car with it...
