Need Assistance Identifying Two Indochinese Awards

Long time reader, first time poster. Hoping to get some help in identifying these obscure Indochinese awards. Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Just a quick question, what makes you think these are IndoChinese awards/ is there any distinguishing marking/ from a certain book that indicates this? I've seen similar items when I visited Korea, they are usually used by Brides on their wedding day for good luck and good marriage to last well into the future . This isn't to say that these aren't Indochinese awards/orders but Korea has very many customs as China (Korea was under Chinese rule for a long time

These tokens bear a superficial resemblance to the "boi" shown on Ed Emering's site  http://www.emering.com/medals/french/annam.html, but are certainly not the same.  As Rogi observes, tokens like this are seen widely in China and Korea, and are often sold in stores.  They are handsome decorative pieces.

Aren't these academic cords? Worn by scholars who passed or were taking the old civil service exams?
