Researching Sudan/Boer War Soldiers

Having only really researched WWI & WWII medals can anyone point me in the right direction for researching a soldier who fought in the Sudan & Boer War ? Are there any regimental records for this era (he is North Staffs Regiment)

hi nick its a day out to kew for you mate. first you needs his wo/97 (army papers) & you can get the medal rolls out for his campain medals to check out the clasps are right on the medals.it may say on his wo/97 papers want he got in medals hope this can help you out paul
