Riley1965 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Are branch patches like this one worn on officers uniforms?Doc
Guest Rick Research Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 No. Officers wore (depending on time period and form of dress) the metal insignia of their branch on collar tabs or shoulder boards. From 1969, on the collar tabs, unless in a form of dress like the gimnastyorka that had no tabs-- then on the detachable shoulder boards. Here's a rather oddball example-- a field uniform board for a Veterinary (the device is silver: medical is the same but gold) Colonel:[attachmentid=30520]

Soviet_Sgt Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 That shoulder board (colonel of MVD internal troops or prisons guard period 1969-1992) is for summer khakki service dress shirt - not for field uniforms.
russiamilitaria Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) Such type of patches was begun to use since 1969 for the parade uniform of EM, NCO, extended servicemen and warrant officers ("praporshiks"). Such type of patches was officially used untill end of USSR in 1991.?If it's interesting, I can show you all variants of patches used by Army ans some patches used by KGB, MVD and border guards.
