J G Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 There's a thread going on WAF about the origins of the rounder. It's purely research, you can read it here;http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...t=145594&page=5Anyone have anything to add, particularly Gordon (ref 337 of your book?)
Gordon Williamson Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Not sure which of the pics on p337 you refer to but the top set were contributed by Peter Whamond of the Collectors Guild and the lower was one of a series of photos sent to me by Barry Smith I believe Barry is now a member of WAF under the screen name Feldpost.Barry is a highly respected Document/Soldbuch collector but has unearthed some spectacular vet bring back material of all types and I have no doubt whatsoever that both Peter and Barry were fully convinced that the pieces were genuine at the time they contributed them.
J G Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 Gordon,Thanks for the rely. It was the bottom phot on p337 I was refering to. I'm not doubting Barry's reputation, nor your's, your book is THE reference, I enjoyed reading it a lot. I'm only interested in proof positive, the "rounder" leaves doubt in my mind, I know it's controversial, believe me I'm not intersted in personalities at all. Thanks again.
