    Hi,

    this was my wifes grandfathers.

He could not remember where he got it, It may have been his award piece, or it was a replacement (he lost most of his gear when his Destroyer was sunk at Narvik.

I do know it is not an accepted award piece and go with the second theory. He was awarded the EK on the 3rd of January 1939. Interesting is the small loop, fits perfectly on the ribbon bar hook, but hard to thread a ribbon through it....

I guess there are rarer ones, but I think this is pretty up there.....

I'd guess a duplicate or replacement, especially due to the mounting. It really is a great one, especially that it is attributed to family.

And, if it was 3rd of January 1939, it surely would be the rarest! ;)
