    Hi all,

sorry to hijack this excellent forum for a private genealogy question:

Does anybody know what military action the WWI Besatzungs-Regiment Nr. 8 Posen, Landsturm-Infanterie-Bataillon II Lauban V.29,  2 Kompagnie, was involved in during the first year of the war?

My great-grandfather E. Ebermann fell on the 23/12/1914 and I'd like to find out where he might be buried. I read that the Landsturm was usually composed of older man, often serving auxiliary duties in second line, but at the Eastern front had to full fill front-line duties.

    Many thanks,

    Tom

    Hello!

    The V.29 Lauban was set-up sept. 11, 1914.

First it was under command of III./Bes.Rgt. Posen 7 (November 1914 - january 1915), parts of the bataillon served since february 1915 as border protection of the V.army corps, since may 1915 in Gouvernement Posen and parts of the regiment in the Besatzungs-Regiment 8.

    From june,1 1915- june 14, 1915 ist was II./Bes.Rgt.8 in Posen

    June 14, 1915 it was changed into II./Inf.Rgt. 336

In the period, your great-grandfather died, the bataillon served as III./Bes.Rgt.7 (!).
