Edward L. Hsiao Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Gentlemen, How many DKiG and DKiS (German Crosses in Gold and Silver) holders approximately were in the Bundeswehr? I can't find a website that is dedicated for DKiG and DKiS Holders whose service were in the Wehrmacht and the Bundeswehr. I had to admit that I like the 1957 versions of the DKiG and DKiS better than the ones with the Swastika. Sincerely, Edward L. Hsiao
Edward L. Hsiao Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 Gentlemen, I guess will never know for sure about how many recipients of the DKiG and DKiS that joined the Bundeswehr. I kind of knew that these holders of the German Cross that were in the Bundeswehr outnumbered those who won the Knight's Cross that were in the Bundeswehr. Sincerely, Edward L. Hsiao
Jock Auld Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Like you say, how long is a piece of string? I have seen lots of post war ribbon bars that indicate DKiG, I suppose one would never know unless you have access to BW records but given it is hard enough to access war time records then I think in the world of Data protection it will be doubley difficult?
ÖSTA Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 You could try sifting through this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Recipients_of_the_Gold_German_Cross I know it will be a bit time consuming. But could be worth the effort.
