webr55
I got this one from one of our members. It is a mini ribbon bar, only about 4,5cm long (see next pic for comparison). Precedence is weird (Hindenburg before other German awards), but made this way. The two last ribbons are probably the Turkish War Medal and the Bulgarian St. Alexander (medal?). I think these are too many states for an EM or junior NCO without long service award. So I guess a junior officer who got the Friedrich August medal very early, as an Unteroffizier maybe. Guest Rick Research
That's a very fancy locking pin catch on such a tiny thing, too!The Hessian and Saxon medals are after the Hindenburg Cross because of misunderstanding about "Reichs" versus "state" precedence when the Hindenburg Cross was first created...so I would date this tiny bar right at 1934-35. The "Turkish" War Medal ribbon next to last could very well be a Hessian military long service award, making this the bar of a Hessian NCO (EK and HT) who somehow got an unusual Friedrich August Medal...and whatever the solid red ribbon was!!!!
