shim Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Hello, I know the photo I've attached is really unclear but it's all I have. My Grandfather was a Czechoslovakian Jew that escaped a Nazi death camp and was captured by the Soviets. He became a Russian paratrooper and after a successful mission that involved the capture of a Nazi general he (reportedly) received this medal from Stalin. Anyway, I'd would immensely appreciate it if someone here could identify this medal for me. Thanks so much, S
slava1stclass Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 shim, The suspension medal he is wearing is not Soviet - it is the Czech Bravery Medal. Regards, slava1stclass
shim Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 Hi slava1stclass, Thank you so much! That is exactly the medal. I have confirmed this with my Aunt, who said that my grandmother had told her that he had received the Za Chrabrost medal. Thanks again!
Paul R Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Awesome! Was the story passed down by your Grandmother? What did he do to be awarded this honor?
