Farkas Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Hi Gents I'd love some thoughts on this.... i couldn't resist it... gulp! Its in the USA but on its way to me. it was described as an 'incomplete belt' These are the pics from the advert. i reckon the crest is this one but wider... so I think this piece is no belt as the crest would not be worn sideways. If so this looks like it would be worn on the chest or even the back as a 'plate'. Then the straps angle down and are wrapped somehow. The straps look surely incomplete to some degree. i haven't yet found a picture that's similar.... yet. Hope you like Gents. All replies appreciated. tony

Farkas Posted November 19, 2017 Author Posted November 19, 2017 Hi Gents Iver, thank you. i don't know yet - I like the idea of a 'face' plate for a horse? Or 'chest' ? tony
Iver Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 ...look here.. ...but i dont think it has to do something with army or imperial family or so. just a nice ornament for a draft horse...
peter monahan Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I agree: almost certainly a piece of horse harness, though it coukld I suppose be for a military horse as easily as a civilian one.

Appreciated both.... --------/- Hi Gents obviously I hope it's old and maybe military or even Royal! its the crest I thought made it worth a punt... I'll post pics once I've got it.... tony
Iver Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 It was pretty common in that time that they used the crest, initials of emperor, national colours and the portraits of emperor and his family on everyday used objects as a sign of patriotism....
Farkas Posted November 10, 2018 Author Posted November 10, 2018 Hi Gents Today I was going to post a thread with some pics of my feuerwehr helmet. I bought it together with this horse harness piece from an antique dealer in the US last year. I know they were from the same estate but hadn’t thought to actually connect the two Having looked back at the replies here I realise a possible link between the two..... i wonder if the harness was also a momento of service in the feuerwehr? perhaps the horse that wore it also served! Wurflach population : I don’t suppose there were many of these.... cheers gents tony
