Drekmann also commanded Infanterie-Regiment 34 from 23.4.42-22.2.43 (renamed Füsilier-Regiment 34 on 9.11.42). Before taking command of the 161.ID, he was Führer of the 306.ID from 1.7.43-17.7.43 and of the 39.ID from 18.7.43-27.8.43.
