jdaviessp Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 In looking through some old family medals I came across a a Fenian Raid 1866 medal (pictured) that bears a a family name on my mothers side. Not being a particular collector of these types of items my research lead me to this forum and I hope to leverage the expertise here to find out a little more about the medal and the recipient. The rim is engraved SGT. E.F. Oates - 2nd Q. O. R. – Can anyone confirm his presence in the Rolls and any related info would be much appreciated. Thx, John 1
SemperParatus Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) Amazing find. Unlike many recipients of the medal, the QOR along with the RHLI were actually in combat with the Fenians. The ribbon however is incorrect Edited August 30, 2018 by SemperParatus 1
