heusy68
Hello Gentlemen, I have seen this medal from time to time, but always with no ribbon, or obviously incorrect ribbon. Here , I think with 99 % certitude, it's the correct ribbon. But what is this medal for ? Any Amharic reader here ? The medal is in base metal, 52 x 27 Millimeters (including its suspension). The ribbon width is 32 Millimeters. Best regards. Emmanuel

Megan
Fascinating... where is this information to be found? I haven't even started on Ethiopia properly yet!
OCSredleg
Megan, Specifically I found this on a website called “The Internet Archive “ (https://archive.org/details/armeerundschau) generally, I’m doing research for an article I’m considering for submission to OMSA covering DERG to present ODM. I’ll be using the following bibliography: Zewde, Bahru “A History of Modern Ethiopia “ Kapuscinski, Ryszard “The Emperor “ Keller, Edmond “Revolutionary Ethiopia “ Henze, Paul “Ethiopia in Mengistu’s Final Years, Until the Last Bullet” vols 1&2 -This list is heavy on the Socialist period of Ethiopia. I’ll likely use recent media reporting for the Haile-Mirium/Ahmed regimes.
Megan
I'll look forwards to that article!
OCSredleg
Fellow Africa Experts, im doing some research on Derg Orders and Decorations. I came across the following picture of MG Meredasa Lelisa. In the picture he is wearing an Order of the February 1974 Revolution 2nd class, a wounded on duty medal and another I can’t recognize to the far right. It appears to have a large bee a fixed to a five-pointed star. The star hangs from a standard Derg medal hanger that has a flat folded ribbon. In the color picture the ribbon appears to be green with a tricolor centered. I can’t make out the tricolor. Any information is appreciated,
