heusy68
Hello Gentlemen, I have seen this medal from time to time, but always with no ribbon, or obviously incorrect ribbon. Here , I think with 99 % certitude, it's the correct ribbon. But what is this medal for ? Any Amharic reader here ? The medal is in base metal, 52 x 27 Millimeters (including its suspension). The ribbon width is 32 Millimeters. Best regards. Emmanuel
heusy68
Thanks to Owain, who gave me a translation : " For 15 Years Distinguished (or Special) Service". If any member is fluent in Ahmaric, he's most welcome. Regards. Emmanuel

Megan Posted Monday at 07:26 Share Posted Monday at 07:26 Fascinating... where is this information to be found? I haven't even started on Ethiopia properly yet!
OCSredleg Posted Monday at 11:58 Share Posted Monday at 11:58 Megan, Specifically I found this on a website called “The Internet Archive “ (https://archive.org/details/armeerundschau) generally, I’m doing research for an article I’m considering for submission to OMSA covering DERG to present ODM. I’ll be using the following bibliography: Zewde, Bahru “A History of Modern Ethiopia “ Kapuscinski, Ryszard “The Emperor “ Keller, Edmond “Revolutionary Ethiopia “ Henze, Paul “Ethiopia in Mengistu’s Final Years, Until the Last Bullet” vols 1&2 -This list is heavy on the Socialist period of Ethiopia. I’ll likely use recent media reporting for the Haile-Mirium/Ahmed regimes.
