Euronymous Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Hello Before 90, romanian army used the soviet system for the shoulder boards (like the one on the photo). I know they continued to use them in the following months after the communism collapse. But when did the new shoulder boards appear ? 90 91 ?
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 (edited) I believe that the new system of military ranks was introduced by Lege 80 of 1995: http://legislatie.just.ro/Public/DetaliiDocument/6151 The new rank insignia were generally based on those used before WWII, yet with some modifications. As far as I remember, rank insignia of generals initially resembled those used in the Bundeswehr and they were modified again a few years later. Edited January 17, 2020 by Lukasz Gaszewski
Euronymous Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 Thanks for your reply. Romanian army continued to use the old shoulder boards and uniforms only during the transitional period 1990-91. In 1991, they had totally different shoulder boards and new uniforms. I recently had the information from a romanian military who started his carreer in 1989.
