Sanitäter1418 Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Hey all, I have this Hesse-Darm Medical Cross and I decided to do a little more research into it and it seems that the ribbon colors are incorrect. I mostly see Red base and white strips and one recently like mine which leads to my confusion. The medal itself seemed too shiny for a 100+ year old award. Anyone have any good knowledge of this states awards? Thanks.
Schießplatzmeister Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Hello, There are two (2) types of ribbons for this award. The one that you show is correct (for merit for medical officers, medical NCO's, and enlisted medical personnel), as is a red ribbon with silver (metallic) side-stripes [for other merit related to nursing during the 1914-1918 war]. Your piece appears to be the type made of "copper-bronze". The bright state of the alloy may be due to the piece having been cleaned by someone recently. It is difficult to be certain from the photo provided. Best regards,
Eric Stahlhut Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 here is the other ribbon (on a sales sample card)
Sanitäter1418 Posted May 18, 2020 Author Posted May 18, 2020 Thank you very much gentlemen. That clears that up completely. Regards!
