Avitas Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Hi, my Juncker Coastal Artillery badge is vaulted, and has a different colour to the wreath than what you usually see. I know they made them in a more sandy colour for Afrika Korps, could this be Afrika Korps? Thanks,Pat
Avitas Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 The back, you can see the vaulting and the maker mark. Looks good to me, but what do you think?
Avitas Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 Hi, I really think this one is good, these pics don't do it justice. This is one I will be posting new pics of soon because it has identical details up close as my other Juncker CA badge. Any opinions?THanks,Pat
Avitas Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 The new and improved badge pics! It has great detail in the gun and the correct makers mark, imho. Any responses on the new pics? Any and all info is very helpful to beginners like me.Thanks,Pat
Avitas Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 The hinge has a replacement little piece of metal holding the pin on, an obvious repair job, but original hinge seems intact.Pat
dond Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Sorry, another fake. Same hinge/pin as the other fakes.Don
Avitas Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but all of the pins except the one CA I got from a different source (the only one that checks out so far) were replacements and not made with the badge. That is why they all have the same pins. Again, not sure if it matters but I'll put it out there. I have started scannnig the rest of my stuff (luckily, bought from different sources than these badges!) and I'll be posting them soon. THanks,Pat
Guest Darrell Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but all of the pins except the one CA I got from a different source (the only one that checks out so far) were replacements and not made with the badge. But it was someone in their garage and not from WW2
Avitas Posted April 29, 2006 Author Posted April 29, 2006 Hi again,The dealer I bought it off of (along with the other badges, but not much of the rest of my stuff) said when he bought them long ago they were all damaged and missing pins, so he added them himself. So he himself added the copper pins in his garage, as suggested earlier. I probably should have mentioned that earlier, but at least I remembered now. These badges were the very first items I bought (besides a belt buckle and a tinnie) and I had NO experience. After hearing all of your advice I feel I know the level of detail to look for, and hopefully I won't get taken again. Thanks again,Pat
Avitas Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 Hi gents,Just thought I'd post some quality scans for some more comments on this one. The details seem pretty good, but I could very well be mistaken. The pin is a replacement, not the original, and the hinge matches other originals. Any scrutiny is encouraged of this badge and any more opinions are great.Pat
Avitas Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 and the vaulted back. Does anyone else have a vaulted Juncker Coastal Artillery to compare details? Thanks,Pat
Avitas Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 and finally a close-up of the makers mark. Don is probably right as he has much more experience in the field, but I just thought I'd post better scans because this one has pretty good details compared to my other badges.Any more opinions?Pat
Guest WAR LORD Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 This is a copy. Having looked at your other badges, there seems to be a similarity in the method of construction.
