Nikolaj II For bravery

Hello guys.

I like to get some information about this medal. Is it a original piece? I have understood its for bravery, right? But it has no numbers hit into it or no class of bravery….

Original privately-commissioned medal that was made in Moscow somewhere around 1914 - 1916 by Dmitry Kuchkin workshop.

Thank you for that information. Can you explain why somebody orderd a medal like this privatly? Or when it dont have any bravery class is it then for bravery ” in general”?

In Imperial Russia any awardee could buy additional exemplar of his award from a private workshop (because his original medal was lost, damaged or because of any other reason). Number and class are missing because the manufacturer "left them to the buyer".  Privately commissioned medal will be (or won't - it all depends on the desire of the owner) privately engraved (by awardee or professional engraver) with appropriate number and class.
