John F. Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Hello, I have a 1962 GSM with a South Arabia Class named to a person in the Royal Navy that has the abbreviation "A/ R.S.", but I can't seem to find the meaning. One source I found (The Long, Long Trail website) stated that "ARS" stands for; "Advanced Regulating Station", but I can't find anything that applies that abbreviation to the Royal Navy. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks! John
John F. Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 I think I found a possibility. ARS is a hull classification for a rescue and salvage ships in the British Navy. Can anyone confirm?

John F. Posted April 25, 2023 Author Posted April 25, 2023 I think you are spot-on. My cousin in the Canadian Royal Navy also confirmed. Thanks for the help!
