John F. Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Hello, I picked this medal up over the weekend at a local antique shop. I assume that it is some sort of British shooting competition medal. What I can't figure out is the abbreviations on the backside that reads: 2nd V.B.A. & S.H. means. Is anyone familiar with it, and does anyone know when the rank/title "Colonel Seargeant" was used? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

John F. Posted October 17, 2023 Author Posted October 17, 2023 Hi Marcon, Thank you for your time and effort! May I ask where you found that information? Best, John
Marcon1 Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 (edited) Hi John, I typed in google search - 2nd. "vba" .a. & s.h. regiment Got a hit in tradeshouselibrary.org - records of the Scottish Volunteer Force 1859-1908 Noticed - Gordon, Alex., F.S.M., Captain, 3rd V.B. A. & S.H. Started to read the text until I read this - (see 5th V.B. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) And that's how I did it, took me about 15 minutes. Regards, Marcon1. Edited October 17, 2023 by Marcon1 1
