hxihiu111 Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 I recently collected a set of rising sun 3rd class including certificate and order for Vice Admiral "日比野 正治". I find it interesting that he served as defence attaché in US from 1922.12.1 to 1923.4.1 in which I guess he might attend the Washington Naval Conference even though I have no further evidence. 🤔
JapanX Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 His name is Hibino Masaharu https://asiamedals.info/threads/japanese-naval-academy-graduation-diplomas.27109/#post-360325 Certificate is original but this particular order didn't belong to him.
hxihiu111 Posted October 27, 2023 Author Posted October 27, 2023 Dear JapanX, Thanks for your reply. Can you help me to date the order of rising sun since it's not the one matched? Also wonder if he actually attend the conference? Best more pics under natural light
JapanX Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 The one you have belong to the late 1930s /most likely issued after 1936 but before 1940/. Could be marked. Check the rim of the paulownia suspension for mark M. Washington Conference 1921-1922 was held from November 11, 1921 to February 6, 1922. He was appointed Assistant Attaché on April 9, 1921. So theoretically he could be among the support staff. But of course he wasn't an official delegate. Best, Nick
