FLAG OF THE TRAIL UNITS - SPECIAL FORCES

The current Special Forces insignia was designed in early 1949 by the Commando Command and, after being approved by the GES, replaced - in the spring of 1949 - the previous one along with the green beret instead of the corresponding khaki. Its design was based on a similar emblem of the British Special Air Service (SAS) Commando Units, established during World War II (1940 - 1945).

It has the shape of a black medieval shield and the depiction on it includes a yellow sword, which in ancient times was the weapon of choice for lightly armed units undertaking offensive and surprise missions. The sword is held vertically by two navy blue wings. The wings indicate the possibility of performing actions from the air, among others. In a white arched band located at the top of the performance there is the inscription "THE BRAVE VICTORY", which in a free rendering, means "Courage is the most important factor for victory".

Along with the patches "DYNAMEIS KATADROMON", white-black color, it is worn by all Special Forces personnel, except Marines - from 1949 to the present day - just like the previous emblem.
