It was not retrospective. Myself and members of the force I was serving with received them with hardly any delay whatsoever. For details of eligibility, refer to the MoD website. Dave. I know, I had two years service at the time, so I didn't qualify. Even though I had six aggregate at the time. I had to wait until the prison service had fought it and it was retroactive for me and them. Its poor use of PS there rather than prison service that's caused the confusion. My initial post on this forum was in reference to someone who had contacted me about the new medal and its criteria. Edited June 27 by Sunset
Sunset Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Turns out you could even argue the 20 year service mark isn't a requirement for this medal, they allude to in the covering letter for the Royal warrant that it will be 20yrs to match other services, but if it isn't written down in the RW, is very much open to interpretation. This is a very, very loose Royal Warrant. I know people in the prison service are trying to challenge this, I'd imagine the police wont be far behind given the BF, Police and Prison are very much bedfellows in this (i.e. use of powers, detention, use of force, serving legal documents etc.) Royal warrant for Border Force and Immigration Enforcement and National Crime Agency Long service and Good Conduct Medals - a Freedom of Information request to Home Office - WhatDoTheyKnow Further confirmation of aggregated service included below from another FOI. 67821 G Loughney Response.pdf (whatdotheyknow.com)
gongz Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Hi there Nice to see that Charles III has not been active in the 68th year of his Reign quite yet! (Amended date of Warrant) Did you ever get a reply concerning the second part of your request? Namely the Warrant for the "National Crime Agency Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (2017)"? Cheers G.
