Hi everyone, I've been trying different ways of displaying some of my collection, i have just found this oblong pennant and thought I'd give it a go to display my party badges and stickpins

let me know how if it's a good idea or not, cheers Cameron

I like it, not easy to display pins & stickpins, I myself have some similar (framed) displays for my pins & stickpins collection (just showing one of these framed displays)

Hi Nacho I like your display of HJ knives!!

The display of the badges and stickpins looks great as well, what is the material made from?

Was it hard to put them on? Or how did you stick them on? Sorry for all the questions, it's to see if It would be better for me to do something similar,

    Cheers Cameron

Thanks for the comments cameroninglis, it's a normal frame wich I put a cardborad (soft one from a normal carboard  box) with a synthetic velvet glued on, so it's easy to stick them into even if they have horizontal needles

Nacho, thanks for the reply, thats a good idea,  i was thinking maybe a piece of cork might be a good idea, i may buy a sheet and test it out, lol, cheers Cameron

I have tried cork but is more dense than cardboard and some stickpins have their needles bent when attached, definitively carboard works better for me

Nacho, cheers for the warning, I'll give cork a miss then, it did sound like a good idea, but I'll bow to your experience, cardboards the way to go then I think, when I next buy a new frame, I'll give it a go

    Cheers Cameron

Hi Nacho, here's an interesting set of photos, I bought this knife about 40 years a go, I thought it looked like an HJ knife, it has German maker markings on the blade, with a missing diamond in the handle, one could hope, I thought, I'll let you have a look and a think, and then I'll tell you what I found out about it, cheers Cameron .

Hi Nacho, I've not got much to add you pretty much nailed it on the head, yes a scout knife

I did wonder if they'd used new old stock of blades handles etc from old HJ stock?

    Cheers Cameron

I think the same factories begun with making new knifes under new brands for a new marhet (Boy Scouts), Hubertus is the new brand of former HJ Knives maker Kuno Ritter of Solingen

    Hi Cameron,

Well, apart from one I'd say these are fine originals.... However, bad news on the Deutschland Erwache I'm afraid. These (& other slogan badges/pins) were made in the 1920's, long before the RZM was created. Even if they were made later, they were not party sanctioned therefore not required to have the RZM markings. These should either have just the Ges.Gesch, or a maker's name/mark & Ges.Gesch.

    Sorry...

Hi Don, thanks for making my day (again), lol, I even looked it up and a maker does exist for this number it's  1M/ 73-Karl Erbacher-Pforzheim

So the Great British Auction Houses win again

Oh yes, the fakers are sneaky like that, they choose RZM numbers that exisited.

Incidentally, a good little reference book on the subject is Stephen Lautens' (known on many forums as sjl) "A collectors guide to the RZM marks of the NSDAP". 3rd edition, published in 2004. It covers things like this...

    C,

You have a good core of period organizational badges to build around. The 25 year Stadtgruppe Neukölln für treue dienst als Kleingärtner badge is one I have not seen before to my recollection.

The Deutsche Arbeitsfront Jugend DAFJ is (IMO) not common.

Is the blue swas. a Finnish (Finland) pin?

    Thanks for sharing.

Hi Joe, thanks for the great comments, yeah I like all my new pins and badges I'm starting to get a real passion for them and hopefully I'll be getting a lot more to add to the collection over time, I have to thank Don for helping me by selling me some of his spares which I'm very grateful for otherwise I'd be none the wiser, I hope I continue to learn off off everyone on the forum so I can keep buying decent genuine items, the fact you say that you have never seen the 25 year Stadtgruppe Neukölln für treue dienst als Kleingärtner before just shows that I've done well this time and on the right track as well as The Deutsche Arbeitsfront Jugend DAFJ

I'm not sure about the small swastika pin

I'll have to find out and let you know mate

Glad you like them, cheers Cambo

Hi Don, thanks for the information about the book

I've already had a look for it, I'll keep on looking,

Yeah that's very sneaky using real codes that's below the belt really Lol

Hopefully I shan't be buying anymore doggy pins now I have the forum and some good people to advise and educate me, cheers Cambo 👍
