Jstrom Posted June 24 Posted June 24 My most recent acquisition. I am a bit confused about the combination, and why the Order of Civil Merit would be first (if it belonged to a Scandinavian). Has to be someone non-Scandinavian? Also, any idea as to why the Order of the Falcon would be turned the wrong way? 2
JohanH Posted June 25 Posted June 25 The precedence of the orders points towards a Spanish recipient. But there are a few questions that remain. The Falcon order is the pre 1944 version and only two spanish recipients got the knight cross of type 1. The Spanish order don't look as old as the others? Or am I fooled by the photos? It the Danish Order of Kristian X type? Does it look like there has been more miniatures before the Spanish one? It appears to be some black thread on the back of the ribbon.
Kvart Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Lack of knowledge when they were mounted could explain the order and wrong way of the Falcon. Maybe the guy put them in the order they were awarded to him, we often see that in Norwegian cases, very much ribbons on uniforms mounted by the wearer himself. And maybe the pre-1944 version of the Falcon was the only type of miniature he could get hold of when he bought and mounted miniatures to the orders he had. Miniatures are always tricky.

It’s a tricky one, I don’t see the age bit, but could definitely be some type of put-together. Yes, the Danish Order is the Kristian X type. Some more photos:
