David Horvath Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Can anyone please identify the uniform worn by a Hungarian cadet in the attached photo. It was my father and taken probably about 1941. There are no surviving relatives of his generation and we have conflicting reports as whether he was in the army or airforce.
Gordon Craig Posted August 6 Posted August 6 The uniform is that of the Hungarian Levente organization (Youth Organization) Here is a picture of an older Levente youth in uniform. Regards, Gordon 1

Hi David, well I don’t know if you optimistic about an answer or not but I wasn’t when I saw your post originally. Keep us posted on any updates 👍 cheers tony 🍻 Just thought I’d add this link to the Hungarian National Archives. You might find something there about your Dad. Happy hunting. Link to that page 👇 https://mnl.gov.hu/angol cheers tony 🍻

Megan Posted August 8 Posted August 8 It's great to have you here, David. Welcome aboard, and do stick around.
Gordon Craig Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Farkas, I recognized the uniform because I lived in Budapest for a few years, studied, and collected Hungarian uniforms, badge, medals etc. during that time Levente items are rare even in Hungary and I have only seen their uniforms in the Military Museum in the castle district. David, Your father looks too young to serve in the military during WWII but he would have probably undergone military service when he was old enough. Good luck in researching your father. Regards, Gordon
