Lisaflo
Hi all, I'm researching a medal my grandfather got from a "fancy German family" while in Germany many years ago - he was born about 1901 and died in 1979. I haven't found a photo exactly like it online. I've attached one here. It has the number 265 stamped on the back and the crown on the front is more elaborate than other Prince Alfons medals I've seen. Has anyone seen one of these or can tell me more about who received these and why? Google hasn't helped much. Many thanks in advance
VtwinVince
Hmmm, that cypher is not for Prinz Alfons von Bayern, and the coronet is not a royal crown. I'm guessing that this was a 'Geschenkbrosche' from a princely or ducal house, and the person had a name starting with 'M'.
landsknechte
I don't know who's cypher this is, but I don't believe it's got anything to do with Prince Alfons, beyond the resemblance. Presumably it's some other prince or nobleman's version of the same concept.
Bernd_W
The crown is a (modern) crown for a count. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:Rangkronen-Fig._18.svg https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rangkrone German,Belgium, Netherlands looks like.
