CRMS Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Greetings, Does anyone know where the NRP police files are now kept. I understand that with the granting of independence all the police records from the NRP were sent back to the UK. Can they be remotely accessed? Many thanks
Dave Wilkinson Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 The National Archives index of files held can be can be viewed on their website. However, the files themselves (if held) cannot be individually accessed. If you can actually identify a particular file, you can ask them to send you a copy of it or part of it. However, the charges for doing so are quite high. Some files held are "closed" for specific periods of time. This is particularly so if the file relates to personnel matters or if the content is sensitive. They will hold information relating to the NRP, but you would need to explore the index to find out what that consists of. Best of luck. Dave.
CRMS Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 Many thanks, I shall start the search. What I am hoping to find are case files. I had family who served in the NRP and the stories are fascinating.
