JOCI Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Hello, everyone! Recently I got an order of the red eagle simplified award document and an envelope. The seller told me it is a simplified version. So this is the reason why I can't find any German Reich eagle markings or decorative contents on the file? In addition, the paper shows other letters in the light. I can't be sure of the authenticity of this document. This is very disturbing to me. He told me a name: Lehmann on the envelope. I can't discern anything else, can anyone help me read the rest of the useful information, such as the unit he was in and his rank, much appreciated! The document as below. Letters in light display The envelope. I think the logo on top of the envelope is very elaborate, but I can't find any stamp on top of the document, which is very disturbing to me!
svapr Posted March 17 Posted March 17 It looks like a request from the order's office. And transfer: We enclose the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th Class, awarded to you by His Majesty the King at this year's Coronation and Order Festival, with the request that you complete the attached form and return it to us as soon as possible. The last image shows the recipient's description. German: An den Kaiserlichen Hofrat, Geheimen Sekretär Ahiffreur im Auswärtigen Amt Herrn Lehmann, Bei der Behörde abgeben. And translate: To the Imperial Court Councillor, Privy Secretary, Assistant Secretary in the Foreign Office, Mr. Lehmann, Submit to the authorities. Hopefully someone else can improve or correct my translation.
VtwinVince Posted March 17 Posted March 17 As stated above, not an award document, but a notification of award from the orders chancellery.

It seems then that this is not a award document, not even a simplified one, but only a letter of notification, which is very disappointing to me. If this type of paper is still considered rare, then I can grudgingly accept the result. 14 minutes ago, VtwinVince said: As stated above, not an award document, but a notification of award from the orders chancellery. Dear VtwinVince Thank you for your reply! This makes me feel that I have been fooled by the seller, although the paper does relate to the order of the red eagle, it is not enough to be a certificate, I spent almost €105 to get it, which upsets me, the seller's description is very ambiguous, which is wrong! This makes me feel that I have been fooled by the seller, although the paper does relate to XXX, it is not enough to be a certificate, I spent almost €105 to get it, which upsets me, the seller's description is very ambiguous, which is wrong! I see that there is an official document on sale for 227 euros, I might as well add some money to that one! I'm sad to have spent money on this stuff.😭
svapr Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Hello Joci. Don't be disappointed! Consider the following. While the material sources of phaleristics (i.e. awards), which are the focus of collectors' attention, are given sufficient attention, written and pictorial sources are given much less. The letter (deed) you have is an interesting document of that time. This cover letter and other correspondence usually inform the person concerned that he was awarded and under what conditions he can receive the award. There are also known cases where the awardee received only this decision and had to purchase the award at his own expense. Yes, the price is high. However, the time when no one wanted this type of paper has changed. Today, on the contrary, awards, as well as documents, decrees and other paper monuments that belong to them, are in trend. And another interesting thing. You can see on the watermark who made the paper. It was Hannoversche Papierfabriken Alfeld-Gronau Aktiengesellschaft. The company was founded on August 11, 1872.
VtwinVince Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I agree, for an actual VU for the RAO4 with this notification included, you should be paying around that. If you are interested in Imperial awards docs, drop me a line.

Hello SVAPR!I am very grateful for your reply again! Your words have calmed me down a lot. This notification letter is also one of the important research materials for studying the medal awarding process. It cannot be easily measured by money, after all, every document is unique in the world. This makes people understand that the process of obtaining a medal is different from winning a lottery prize, and there are also complex procedures and etiquette involved. I also greatly admire you, you are very knowledgeable! Thank you for telling me about watermarks on paper! I should learn from you to maintain enthusiasm and study medal knowledge. Thank you again and wish you a wonderful day!😄 15 hours ago, VtwinVince said: I agree, for an actual VU for the RAO4 with this notification included, you should be paying around that. If you are interested in Imperial awards docs, drop me a line. Hello VtwinVince! I also appreciate your reply! Recently, I am interested in purchasing Order Of The Iron Crown and currently have no plans to purchase Imperial awards docs. If I become wealthy or have any related plans in the future, I will send you a message and hope that you will still be willing to help me at that time! I have recently been searching for biographical information on a Leutnant d.R. in RIR 249 who was awarded the BZ3bX, would you be willing to help me and give me some clues, thank you very much! I have so far found the Kriegsstammrollen for RIR.249 when he was awarded the order. If you can find the complete resume or profile of this person, I am willing to pay you the fee! Thank you and have a wonderful day!
svapr Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Hello JOCI. So far I can only help by saying that almost every regiment published something like memoirs after the war. If Heydecke served in this regiment, then he could certainly be mentioned in this work: Reiß, A.; Fitzer: Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 249, Mannheim 1938.
