Hello, I would like to show you an interesting collection at the castle in Náchod, Czech Republic. During the more than a hundred years that this family held the Náchod estate, it created several extensive collections in the fields of mineralogy, numismatics, but also phaleristics. Thanks to its connections with other European noble families, it was possible to obtain a number of rare high orders and decorations. These family relics and jewels were stored in the castle safes. After the end of World War II, the state confiscated many valuables from seven castle safes, which were melted down in the National Bank and transformed into the gold treasure of the republic. The last safe, which was only opened in 1959, gave interesting testimony to the collecting activities of William Charles Augustus and his son Frederick. The safe contained high orders from European aristocratic families. Among others, the Nassau Order of the Golden Lion, the Danish Order of the Elephant, the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, the Anhalt Order of Albrecht the Bear, the Order of Schaumburg-Lippe and the Norwegian Order of St. Olav. In addition, various plaques, medals, military and official orders and medals, medals from economic exhibitions, ancient coins, and currency used in the Czech Republic and other European countries from the Middle Ages to the 20th century were discovered.

Quite the hoard, of course all this material, along with the possessions and real estate of the Sudeten Germans was actually stolen by the Czechs and Benes post-1945, and let's not forget one of the worst examples of ethnic cleansing in modern history.
