JBFloyd Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 (edited) This came out of a collection heavy with Imperial German and Austrian material. Unfortunately, the collector had no idea what it was (and neither do I). It's a white metal piece, unmarked, with a straight horizontal pin. The standing figures are wearing a fez and look European. The crescent and star lead toward Turkey, but...Any ideas? Edited June 15, 2006 by JBFloyd
Guest Rick Research Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 "BH 3" I would take to be an Austro-Hungarian regimental designation for an infantry (?) regiment from Bosnia-Herzogovina.This is QUITE a change from the usual unit tinnie!!!
Josef Rietveld Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 as born austrian i should know it, but i have no idea. the ribbon does look turkish (Medjidie-Order) to me.haynau
Tim Tezer Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Never seen this one before. I think Rick's conclusion is probably correct. I wonder if the ribbon was originally part of this, or if someone just used a piece of Osmanie order ribbon to make it look nice?Tim
Chip Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 (edited) This is patterned after one of the most common (of the scarcer Bosnian Kappeabzeichen) Austro-Hungarian cap insignia/fund raiser pins. There was a design for each of the Bosnian regiments.Chip Edited June 16, 2006 by Chip
Josef Rietveld Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 @JBFloydfinally i found one in my books. but i'am afraid they don't know more eitherregards haynau
