    Nice all WW1 ribbon bar

    Recommended Posts

I thought this would make for some interesting conversation. It is a '57 pattern bar with all WW1 service. Don't ask me why they had it made, I have no idea why an earlier one wouldn't do. It has a very nice enameled EK mini, can I assume this represents an EK1?

Does make you wonder why somebody who SEEMS to have missed WW2 would have bothered to wear a ribbon bar like this!

If I read the regulations correctly, a 1914 EK1 would have been represented the same way as a 1939 one-- with a SECOND Iron Cross ribbon.

Now that I remember having seen some '57 bars, you are correct. This was just the owners way of dressing up his bar a little. Or....

...perhaps there was a more devious side to it i.e. padding his awards. While displaying his actual awards, the unknowing might believe he did receive an EK1.:speechless::P
