Daniel Murphy Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 (edited) While in the mountains of Pennsylvania this weekend, I found this half height ribbon bar at a shop. I think that with the Saxe-Meiningen and Schwartzburg-Rudolstadt ribbons it is very interesting. I know it is just an NCO bar, but is there a chance that this can be pinned down to a particular unit?Dan Murphy Edited July 24, 2006 by Daniel Murphy
Daniel Murphy Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 (edited) The reverse makes it look like a Godet, but it does not have their trademark hinge. The catch is made from flat stock and is bent making it look odd.Dan Murphy Edited July 24, 2006 by Daniel Murphy
Guest Rick Research Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Nice combination! The civil KVK makes me wonder if there was a second row festooned with all sorts of NSDAP thingies. That is the odd style = pin hinge Godet favored in the 1920s and which came back in for early Federal Republic ribbon bars. Something worth noting is that these HALF HEIGHT and half heights ONLY will be found consistently made with brass backings, even during WW2. There was apparently some sort of flex/stress strength issue which could not normally be handled with steel unless of the tab back variety.
