Hello,

what do you think of the 2-piece medal bar with the Medal of the Order Star of Brabant ??

There are a lot of copies of these medals on the market.

Is this a original one ??

As far as I know this medal was NOT awarded to men!

Unfortunately all statistical data about this order is incomplete, so that we do not know if the medal was only given to women.

Regardless: There was a proof made from the original dies using soft cooper material, which caused a coinage error. The medal displayed below is a fake made by using the proof piece:

You see two perls/dot on the rim melted together.

Whatever they did to reproduce this medal shows this error in a more abstract, less detailed appearance.

Beside all this nobody knows, if the photo was part of the original lot.

On the bigger pictures I can`t find anything wrong on the rim with the perls, but you never know especially on ebay

In the next auction of the "Hanseatisches Auktionshaus f?r Historica" on 11.08.2006 you can also find a silver medal of the Star of Brabant (Lot 1904) for 300 Euro.

I recall a number of medals of this type flowing out of Hamburg 10-15 years ago. All on nice flat ribbons with the upper corners of the ribbon clipped off to prevent unraveling.
