    Don,

Its something like "Reichsconsortium for profession-related education in the german restaurant-business" Don?t know, if thats correctly translated, but you will get the idea probably.

Btw, is there a proper translation for "Reich"?

    best regards,

    Gerd

I have always taken Reich to be the equivalent to the word Empire.

Thanks, Nick. Thats right of course, but somehow i don?t like to use empire for Hitlers Reich. It almost has an own meaning and is quite well known amongst english-speaking people. I thought there might be another translation. Sorry, should have been clearer.

This is very true, it has now taken on a meaning of it's own. The word is recognised all over the world & doesn't need translating when used in association with NS material.

    Thank you.

Hard to believe it's only for german restaurant-business with it being silver and numbered.

I thought for sure it was related to the SS or something. (Long sigh)

    Hi Don,

I think we have the final proof that the pin is indeed for "Reichsarbeitsgemeinschaft f?r Berufserziehung im Deutschen Gastst?ttengewerbe".

Here is a certificate for a Master Cook which clearly shows the image of the badge at the top. The pin number is also shown on the certificate.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Don
