Verdun16 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) Good morning Rick Edited March 29, 2008 by Verdun16
Guest Rick Research Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Yikes! The world's oldest Austrian Hauptmann! Same pose (if that was his "GOOD side" ) but different shoulder boards and ribbon bars...hatless/no number on boards:Austrian generic frontline bravery/war merit awards ribbon XdittoHindenburg Cross X? Karl Troop Cross (usually worn ahead of above)Karl Medal for 1 woundAustrian WWI Commemorative-- note no X here??? (maybe a peacetime Bronze Signum Laudis?)?1908 Military Jubilee Cross (if Austrian Long Service-- where IS 1908?)? 1912/13 Mobilization Cross with improper X-- or is that a 1914 Red Cross award with improper X instead of a War Decoration wreath?hat and single number on infantry boards (3? 8?):Austrian generic frontline bravery/war merit XdittoHindenburg XAustrian WWI (now has grown X)Hungarian WWI Commemorative X (added and in wrongplace as commonly seen)? Troop CrossKarl Medal for 1 Wound??? again ?1908 again/ 1912/13/Red CRoss w X againHe must have been a reservist in the FIRST war to be that old and NOT have any long service award. If "???" was the 18987 Military Jubilee followed by a 1908... he had over 20 years IMPERIAL service in, and was STILL only a captain in 1939/40!!!!
Verdun16 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) This bar had me going because the order seemed to be all out of whack so I thought I would share the fun. Maybe he was very farsighted?Bryan Edited March 29, 2008 by Verdun16
