Unknown Pakistani medals?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, stumbled upon this. Does any one have any knowledge about this? The picture in the medal is of the founder of pakistan, but is this an order? Suggestions will be welcomed

A handsome piece, but not in any of the literature I know of.  The clue is perhaps in the legend around the top (which unfortunately I can't read) and in the date 2001, which is the 125th anniversary of Mohammed Ali Jinnah's birth.  Can you give us the full text of the top legend?

Best,

Hugh

Yes, it looks like a commemorative piece.  possibly official or semi-official but given the respect with which Jinna is held in pakistan, quite possibly a prvate piece made for sale/presentation during the celebrations.

Hey, the top text is " 2001 year of Quaid e Azam", according to which i have been able to find out, this is not a official medal given by the state however it might be produced privately as an academic award or as a commemoration

Excellent.  Yes, my money was on unofficial but I don't know enough about Pakistani practice to be definite on that.  A nice looking piece, presumably worn on a wide ribbon.

I did some more research and looks like it is unofficial, thereby has no heritage/historic value. Still looks too neat to be an unofficial medal though

Hashim,

Nicely made for an unofficial piece, have to wait 10 years for the 150th Anniversary, maybe Pakistan will make something official to celebrate, he deserves it, without Jinnah there may not have been a Pakistan.

Hey Paul

Totally agreed, however there are 4 awards dedicated to Jinnah though, Nishan e Quaid-e-Azam, Hilal e Quaid-e-Azam, Sitara e Quaid-e-Azam and Tamgha e Quaid-e-Azam. I have only seen the last mentioned
