    These are quite whimsical---

    the ONLY German awards to ever have these "S Guard" swords were 19th century variants of the Saxe-Ernestine House Order. :Cat-Scratch:

    NO WW1 awards had this style, which were some creative manufacturers style fancy.

    Compounding the oddity, these quite strange swords are GOLD finished, while being used on the deep chocolate bronze Wilhelmskreuz ribbon!
